Upping the ante on your décor can be done in very small steps, and one instance is when installing your grommet curtains, adding a double curtain rod will allow for a second layer of curtain style that not only deepens the look, but functionality too. The outer rod can be used for extra blackout curtain panels, or sheer curtains depending on how much light you want entering the room. The best of both worlds can be had by combing your regular eyelet curtains, and the thermal or black out panel panels to the rod furthest away from the window, and the sheer curtains to the rod closest to the window.

Add some curtain holdbacks and satin or silk tiebacks and you have a work of art that will have visitors thinking you took a second job to pay for your window frame renovation project. Truth be told, everything the previously mentioned project can be done usually for less than one hundred dollars if bargain shopped properly. Ready made curtains are such a hot commodity right now that they are ridiculously low in price and high on the variety scale, and it will be hard to convince yourself which selection to choose for your window treatments.

Keeping it simple is the first rule of redoing a window dressing, slowly adding subtle accents until you get just the right balance will be the path that is most wise when designing on a budget, and lack of decorative experience. Most home staging consultants will tell you that modest neutral colors will best for resale values, and accentuating your color combinations with things like area rugs, and throw pillows will be a more acceptable route to follow. Khaki, taupe, or just about any earthen brown shades will mix nicely with most furniture, and flooring.

The use of a double curtain rod in any instance will magnify the landscape of any room when you add complimentary curtain fabrics to tie everything together by making sure all the colors used in the décor are amplified by the drapery. It will not hurt to get a lending hand from other sources if you feel your designing capabilities are a little lack luster.
